Today, overenthusiastic editing and a brush with a cold leave us with a short show for a very short book about a very long war.

This episode I:
  1. Call for listener opinions on The Forever War as well as the topic of my next episode Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers
  2. Summarize The Forever War
  3. Kick around my impressions and some of the views presented in Joe Haldeman's anti-war transplantation of Vietnam to the vastness of interstellar space
  4. Ask for feedback and plug Two Girls and a Podcast again

For links, visit the show blog at warriorethospodcast.libsyn.com where you can post comments; you can also email me with feedback or leave a voicemail at 206-222-4763 (long distance charges may apply)

The recording of "Battle Cry of Freedom" performed by Kyle Thompson on the album "From the Fields" is used with his kind permission

This "pilot episode" is just a simple introduction of me and what I would like to accomplish with the podcast. Everything is still quite experimental so please let me know if you have any suggestions as to how I can improve.

This episode I:

  1. Credit the recording of "Battle Cry of Freedom" to Kyle Thompson who kindly permitted its use
  2. Introduce myself
  3. Ask for input on possible show content
  4. Read and discuss a quote from Army Field Manual FM22-100 from the section entitled "Character and the Warrior Ethos" courtesy of the Oregon National Guard
  5. Ask for feedback
